The Managing Director/CEO NEMSA & Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Engr. Aliyu T. Tahir fnse, fnipe has said that “it is both timely and essential that we come together to deliberate on the critical role of professional practice regulation and professional practices in transforming and strengthening the power sector and development of power engineering professionals for the ultimate and steady growth of the Nigerian power industry”.
Engr. Aliyu said this while delivering a goodwill message at the Maiden Annual General meeting of the Chartered Institute of Power Engineers of Nigeria (CIPEN) holding in Abuja from the 6th-8th of November 2024 with the Theme: Birthing an effective electric power sector of the 21st century: The Role of Professional Practice Regulation.
He said, the journey to an efficient, sustainable, safer and reliable power supply energy sector demands all stakeholders’ expertise, commitment, and innovation.
Effective regulation, enforcement and governance are cornerstones in ensuring that the power sector not only meets the needs of today but is also poised for the challenges of tomorrow.
Engr. Aliyu added that professional practice regulation in particular, is a key enabler in promoting standards, ethics, and accountability among practitioners, ultimately fostering a more resilient and dynamic industry.
Finally, He urged all in attendance that whilst the discussion ensues, all should be guided by a shared vision of a Power Sector that is efficient and equitable, built on the foundation of excellence and responsibility, because it is through our collective efforts, informed by thoughtful regulation and professional integrity, that we can lay the groundwork for an energy future that supports economic growth, sustainability, and the well-being of all Nigerians.
