NEMSA Certification Schemes for Electrical Installation Personnel in Nigeria

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR INDIVIDUAL CERTIFICATION

  1. Fill and submit the individual certification application FORM  (Please endeavour to choose the individual certification category that applies to you as stipulated in the Guidelines and Procedures and select an Inspectorate Field Office closest to your location)
  2. Pay processing fee of N2000.00 (via TSA)
  3. Upload scanned receipt of processing fee
  4. Upload a clear and recent passport photograph (35mm x 45mm size) which must be without cap/hat/glasses.
  5. Upload scanned copies of educational/professional qualifications
  6. Upload scanned copies of past electrical installation works/projects executed by you e.g. safety inspection certificates issued by Federal Ministry of Power or NEMSA, Job completion certificates, etc.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR CORPORATE CERTIFICATION

  1. Fill and submit the corporate certification application FORM  (Please endeavour to choose the corporate certification category that applies to you as stipulated in the Guidelines and Procedures and select an Inspectorate Field Office closest to your location)
  2. Pay processing fee of N4000.00 (via TSA)
  3. Upload scanned receipt of processing fee
  4. Upload Three (3) recent and clear and recent passport photograph (35mm x 45mm size) which must be without cap/hat/glasses.
  5. Upload scanned copies of educational/professional qualifications of the company’s electrical engineer.
  6. Upload scanned copies of past electrical installation works/projects executed by you e.g. safety inspection certificates issued by Federal Ministry of Power or NEMSA, Job completion certificates from Government establishment or a recognized private organization.
  7. Upload evidence of registration/incorporation with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
  8. The company’s electrical engineer shall undergo practical oral interview and written examination to ascertain his/her competency and to verify the jobs he/she has executed

APPLICATION TIMELINE

  1. Applications must be completed online at least a day to examination/interview.
  2. Notification of the Examination/Interview date to the applicants shall be at least a week to the examination/interview date.
  3. Notification of examination/interview results to the applicants shall be two weeks after the examinations/interviews
  4. Competency certificates shall be issued to successful contractors not later thank one month after receipt of payment for competency certificate.
  5. Payment for competency certificate fee (via TSA) must be made not later than one week after notification

NOTE:

  1. When the Certified Company’s Electrical Engineer/Technologist leaves the organization, the Corporate Certification becomes invalid.
  2. An Engineer/Technologist standing for a company for corporate certification will not be allowed to obtain his/her Individual Competency Certificate
  3. If the candidate already has Individual Competency Certificate, he/she will not be allowed to use it in the electricity industry.
  4. All payments are NON-REFUNDABLE.
  5. All payments shall be made in a form of a bank deposit into the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
