Many of the accidents that occur in the power sector can be attributed to seven (7) major factors:
- System Protection Equipment Failures
- In some cases, total absence of protection devices.
- Non adherence to safety rules, and regulations
- Poor Response to Monitored Networks.
- . Inadequate knowledge and Ignorance on the part of operators/consumers/public.
- Poor Terminations & poor maintenance of Ageing Networks
- Vandalism

GENERAL OBSERVATION:
- Resolution of defective networks by DISCOs is improving
- This is a highly commendable
- DISCOs are enjoined to continue with this trend
- The benefits will be enormous:
- More Stable and Reliable Power Supply Nationwide
- Reduced Accidents
- Reduced Technical Losses
- Improved Customer Satisfaction
- Improved Revenue
- Minimized Payments of Compensations
- A more robust Nigerian Electricity Market.
