Engr. Adesayo stated this during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NDPHC, Engr. Speaking during the meeting, the NEMSA boss said the visit was aimed at formally strengthening institutional ties, deepening collaboration, and reaffirming the long-standing strategic relationship between both organisations in advancing the objectives of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

He commended NDPHC for its critical investments and contributions across the generation, transmission, and distribution value chain, noting that the Company has remained a major driver of power infrastructure development and national economic growth.

Engr. Adesayo restated NEMSA’s statutory mandate of enforcing technical standards and regulations, as well as carrying out inspection, testing, and certification of electrical installations, electricity meters, instruments, and allied equipment to guarantee the efficient delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity supply while safeguarding lives and property.

He emphasized that given the strategic scope of NDPHC’s operations, stronger collaboration between both organisations has become even more imperative.

“Our shared vision is to build a power sector that is safe, efficient, reliable, globally competitive, and capable of driving Nigeria’s economic transformation,” he stated.

The NEMSA Chief Executive identified key areas of enhanced collaboration to include:

  • Inspection, testing, and certification of power infrastructure
  • Enforcement of technical standards and quality assurance
  • Electrical safety compliance and accident prevention
  • Capacity building and technical knowledge exchange
  • Metering integrity and energy accountability
  • Accelerated project certification and compliance resolution

He further stressed that the evolving electricity landscape under the Electricity Act requires stronger synergy among sector stakeholders, anchored on professionalism, innovation, and shared national purpose.

Engr. Adesayo assured NDPHC of NEMSA’s open-door policy, proactive regulatory support, and commitment to improved service delivery.

Responding, the Managing Director/CEO of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, welcomed the NEMSA delegation and expressed the Company’s readiness to further strengthen its partnership with the Agency.

She noted that NDPHC occupies a unique position in Nigeria’s power sector with investments spanning generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchyards, and transmission lines.

Engr. Adighije acknowledged NEMSA’s critical role in ensuring engineering installations comply with approved technical standards, thereby mitigating operational risks and promoting system integrity.

She expressed appreciation for NEMSA’s continued support in inspection, testing, and certification services, while reaffirming NDPHC’s commitment to deeper collaboration in addressing infrastructure gaps and delivering projects that meet global standards and long-term sustainability objectives.
