The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), on the 31st of October, 2025, has taken another major step in its digital transformation drive with the successful completion of a two-phase Post-Deployment Training on the Integrated Technical Inspectorate Service Management System (ITISEMS), held in Lagos and Abuja respectively.

The new digital platform developed in collaboration with Zora Communications Limited (Zoracom®️), is designed to automate and integrate all inspectorate testing, and certification processes within NEMSA, ensuring improved efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across the agency’s operations.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir, described ITISEMS as “a transformative innovation that will reposition NEMSA for smarter, faster, and more transparent service delivery.” He explained that the platform will connect internal users (NEMSA staff) and external stakeholders, such as contractors, installers, and applicants on a single digital interface to manage inspection requests, upload reports, and issue certificates electronically.

The first phase of the training took place in Lagos from 17th – 19th October 2025, with participants drawn from NEMSA’s South-West zonal and field offices. The second phase held in Abuja from 29th – 31st October 2025, targeting staff from the Headquarters and North-Central region. Both sessions provided participants with hands-on experience in system operations, workflow approvals, data entry, and real-time monitoring through the ITISEMS dashboard.

According to Zoracom, the developer of the solution, the system enables complete automation of the inspection lifecycle, from application to certification, providing real-time visibility, centralized data management, and enhanced accountability. Participants were also trained on administrative functions such as user management, report generation, and analytics for decision support.

“The deployment of ITISEMS marks a turning point for NEMSA,” the Zoracom project team lead noted. “It will not only strengthen transparency but also simplify public access to inspection services, aligning with the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business reforms.”

Building on feedback gathered during the training sessions, the ITISEMS project team is now refining the system to incorporate user insights ahead of its official launch on 10th November 2025.

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) is the statutory body responsible for enforcing technical standards and regulations in Nigeria’s electricity supply industry. It conducts inspection, testing, and certification of electrical installations and instruments to ensure the safety of lives and property. Under the Electricity Act 2023, NEMSA’s mandate is further strengthened to deliver efficient, transparent, and technology-driven services nationwide.

Through initiatives like ITISEMS, NEMSA continues to reaffirm its leadership in advancing safety, compliance, and innovation within Nigeria’s power sector.
