ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION COMPANIES

APPLYING FOR NEMSA CERTIFICATION OF ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION COMPANIES
PROCEDURE FOR CORPORATE CERTIFICATION

1. Complete NEMSA Application form C (Please endeavour to select Inspectorate Field Office closest to your location)
2. Pay processing fee of N2000.00 (via TSA).
3. Upload scanned copy of NEMSA receipt of processing fee.
4. Upload Three (3) recent and clear 35mm x 45mm Passport photographs (without cap/hat) of the company’s electrical engineer who is standing for the company
5. Upload scanned copies of educational/professional qualifications
6. Upload scanned copies of electrical installation works/projects by your company e.g. Federal Ministry of Power/NEMSA Inspection Safety Certificate, letter of award/job completion certificate from a Government establishment or a recognized private organization.
7. Upload evidence of Registration/ Incorporation with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
8. The company’s electrical engineer shall undergo practical oral interview and written examination to ascertain his/her competency and to verify those jobs he/she has executed.
9. Upon notification of success in competency examinations, the company shall pay a certification fee of N50, 000.00 (via TSA)

APPLICATION TIMELINE
1. Applications must be completed online at least a day to examination/interview.
2. Notification of the Examination/Interview date to the applicants shall be at least a week to the examination/interview date.
3. Notification of examination/interview results to the applicants shall be two weeks after the examinations/interviews
4. Payment for competency certificate fee (via TSA) must be made not later than one week after notification
5. Competency certificates shall be issued to successful contractors not later thank one month after examinations/interviews.
6. Examinations/Interviews hold once in every QUARTER on the third/fourth week of the last month

NOTE:
1. When the Certified Company’s Electrical Engineer/Technologist leaves the organization, the Corporate Certification becomes invalid.
2. An Engineer/Technologist standing for a company for corporate certification will not be allowed to obtain his/her Individual Competency Certificate
3. If the candidate already has Individual Competency Certificate, he/she will not be allowed to use it in the electricity industry.

SCOPE OF WORK FOR CORPPORATE CERTIFICATION ARE AS FOLLOWS
i. Erection and installation of transmission/sub-transmission lines of 11KV, 33KV, 132KV, 330KV and above along with their associated substations and switchgear control panels.
ii. Laying of 33KV cables, switch-gears of all types and associated substations and control panels.
iii. Installation of Power and Distribution Transformers of all capacities.
iv. Installation and Wiring of electric motors of capacity above 25KW along with their control panels.
v. Installation and wiring of standby generating plants of any capacity along with their ancillary switchgear and change-over switches.
vi. Thorough workable knowledge of all types of electrical testing equipment including DC high voltage pressure testing instrument, primary and secondary injection tests sets, Earth Resistance Test Instrument etc. Ability to read and interpret electrical engineering drawings specifications and other related drawings like route map, pole/tower schedule, line profiles, etc.
vii. Thorough knowledge and interpretation of technical standards, specifications, regulations and any other requirements made by the CEICCB.
